Basra was one of only two albums drummer Pete La Roca recorded as a bandleader with Blue Note. It was recorded in 1965. Joe Henderson played tenor, Steve Kuhn played piano and Steve Swallow played bass. It features a mix of La Roca originals, Steve Swallow tunes and a couple of standards. Produced by Blue Note co-founder Alfred Lion.
