CHROME CRANKS - Diabolical Boogie: Singles, Demos & Rarities 1992 B.C - 1996 A.D. 3LP
* MINOR WATER DAMAGED TRI-FOLD SLEEVE *
Highly recommended.
The Chrome Cranks were THE swampy, noise-infested New Yorkers to listen to in the 90s. Still regretting that night in Hamburg '95 - on a night off from Meanies shows - when around 1am a whole heap of people waltzed into the bar we had been propping up all night. Meeting some of these locals, they had just come from a Chrome Cranks show around the corner.
Likable scummy punk rock for people who like scummy punk rock. It's low-budget and high volume. It sounds scraped from a blood-stained back alley. It's big city heroin-punk meets rockabilly hipshaking.
There's a Trouser Press review which highlights the depraved lyrics, but if you can even hear these lyrics, your ears are better than mine. About the only words I can understand in their noise are "Aaaah!" and "Errrrgh!"
