After releasing two brilliant albums in 1986 ('Born Sandy Devotional' and 'In The Pines', both critically acclaimed), The Triffids were finally snapped up by a major label, Island. The Triffids set out to make their most epic sounding album yet, working again with producer Gil Norton (known for his for with Pixies, Echo And The Bunnymen and many others).

Abandoning the lo-fi sound of their last album, 'In The Pines', and instead returning and expanding on the lush and majestic sound heard on 'Born Sandy Devotional', 'Calenture' captures The Triffids at their creative peak, and is also probably their most accessible album.
