Tropical Fuck Storm (TFS) is Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin (The Drones), Lauren Hammel (High Tension) and Erica Dunn (Mod Con, Harmony).
Having perfected The Drones' brand of intense blues punk with the release of I See Seaweed, Liddiard and co. took a turn for the weird with Feelin Kinda Free. Guitar rawk gave way to guitar squiiiieeeebbblleeeeburrrble while the rhythms became staggered and disorienting. It was good shit but also clearly the work of a group trying to reinvent themselves, at times feeling awkward in their new clothes. Then comes A Laughing Death in Meatspace and holy shit. Tropical Fuck Storm takes the strengths of both sounds and smashes them together for one incredible, noisy, guitar-riffing, electronics-mad, angry-beautiful fuck fest.
