DEVIANTS - Disposable LP
Highly recommended.
The Deviants, headed and fronted by Mike Farren, was the answer to the American groups like Stooges and MC5.
One of the weirder and scuzzier groups from the sixties continues their inconsistent trawl through the sounds of the day. It's acidic, occasionally quite dirgy and a great deal more nihilistic than the narrative would have things being at the end of '68. Sparrows and Wires is all the evidence you need that these fellers were tripping serious balls at this point.
Their chaotic music was the vehicle for a total assault on the culture and the mutation of "Surfing Bird" and "Wipe Out" called "Pappa-Oo-Mao-Mao" was and remain their Manifesto.
