The Airplane made four really good albums but this is the pick of the crop (no pun intended).
The weird musicality of this album is just amazing. Jorma Kaukonen should be regarded alongside George Harrison and Tom Verlaine, and here he's absolutely astounding, squirting all over the place with a sense of psychedelic melody that leaves many so-called "guitar heroes" for dead. Grace Slick was possibly the weirdest songwriter of the era.
