JULIA JACKLIN - Don't Let The Kids Win LP
Includes d/l code.
Jacklin has emerged, along with Olsen and Father John Misty, at the forefront of an interesting new variant on alternative country music, encompassing indie folk and indie rock touches - stepping away from country rock musically and lyrically, but taking some of the more expressive nuances with it.
Jacklin's strength as a songwriter shines through this album - her strength as a singer also shows - possibly better than Olsen - carrying verses through dense songs like Coming of Age, and twisting soulful and beautiful through the multiple solo songs on this album, the reverb here reminiscent of the Nashville sound records of the 1950s.
