Remember, Metal Mike was a lot older than a lot of the angry kids who formed their first garage bands after seeing the Damned or the Pistols play, so maybe that has something to do with the less dogmatic musical approach. They no longer sound like contemporaries of Black Flag, the Germs, the Flesh Eaters or all the other iconoclastic LA punks with all that fury at everything.

It's out with the jacked-up tempos and negativity, in with Nuggets, MC5 records and classic Beatles-y power-pop with a nice dusting of hallucinogens. No complaints here. I loved Back From Samoa but I also love pop music.
