It's pointless to compare Candy-O to its predecessor, The Cars. Both albums stand entirely on their own as classic moments in Rock. Moments that ushered in several genres, including New Wave and Power Pop.

While The Cars debut record leaned into New Wave, its feet were firmly planted in the current Rock of its day. Candy-O is different in that it expanded on the keyboard sound of Greg Hawkes. Those keys drive the songs as much as any other element, to the point that they provide nearly as many riffs as the awesome guitar of Elliot Easton.
