It's a bit more on the snotty, aggressive side of rockabilly, which has held up pretty well.
Aside from Gene Vincent's band with Cliff Gallup in the lineup, the Rock 'n' Roll Trio were probably the best combo of the 50s.

Solid guitar work and pretty much entirely comprised of great tracks, including the influential "The Train Kept a Rollin'", which especially has a pretty savage guitar sound for the 50s. The sound is pretty stripped down and raw.
