KING GIZZARD AND THE LIZARD WIZARD - Flying Microtonal Banana ("Radioactive Yellow" U.S edition) LP
$57.95
Includes d/l code.
"Radioactive Yellow" vinyl ATO Records (U.S.) edition.
Highly recommended.
While “Flying Microtonal Banana” isn’t quite as developed and replayable as “Nonagon Infinity,” it’s still a surprisingly worthwhile project from a band that seems to operate at light speed. King Gizzard managed to take this obscure musical concept and apply it to its garage rock niche by incorporating elements of psychedelic rock, krautrock, and certain Middle Eastern styles of music.
It’s a grower, but it’s worth allowing the time to let this album grow on you. At it’s best, “Flying Microtonal Banana” is a hypnotic record with many lyrical gems that the lo-fi production doesn’t always clarify. This album is worth revisiting not only because of its concept, but also because of how successfully the concept was achieved.
