MILLIGRAM RETREAT - Falun Gong LP (colour vinyl)
We're back! Hello again and my don't you look great today.
To bring you up-to-speed, we closed our shopfront on March 1st and must apologise to those who missed the memo and wandered the streets of Fitzroy North aimlessly.
We spent all of February trying to get the message out, whether it be the large MOVING SALE text plastered across our windows, plus Facebook and Instagram posts and our store newsletter. Speaking of which, please subscribe so you can be aware of our reopening location, timeframe and how to pick up your orders from Brunswick (this info is also included in your Order Confirmation Email). Click the "Subscribe" button found in the footer of our website (via link in bio)
For now, it's back to regular website entries! There will shortly be a resumption of preorders for some of the titles you would normally look for Strangeworld to carry.
Limited edition of 239 copies on blue colour vinyl. Out-of-print.
Packed in a transparent pouche, sealed with a folded printed card.
Highly recommended.
A terrific album. Catchy, interesting, and experimental at the same time, which is rare. Another difficult thing Milligram Retreat does is combine classic minimal synth sounds with old guard industrial and then updating it without sounding like they are trying too hard.
Milligram Retreat from Holland is a collaboration between electronic music producer Maurice Hermes and visual / performance artist Renée van Trier. They first appeared on the Kamp Holland compilation (Enfant17). Falun Gong is their official debut album.
While working in the tradition of 1980’s electro pioneers and proto new wave acts Milligram Retreat are a product of this day and age. There are hints of Ende Shneafliet and Doxa Sinistra and some Berlin 80’s touches are also evident.
