TALKING HEADS - True Stories LP (colour vinyl)
Limited edition red colour vinyl.
It's interesting that the more "global" feel Talking Heads went, the less the urban hipsters who drooled over 'Remain in Light' liked them. That's putting it mildly. The distaste is palpable.
This album has quite a bit of "global" feel - "Hey Now", "Papa Legba", and "Radio Head" being the clearest, and I guess "People Like Us" with the C+W twang may as well be a world away from hipster New York and CBGBs.
'Naked' is very Latin-influenced (as Byrne went on to keep exploring in his solo career), and gets panned the most.
Why is this? Hmmm. Perhaps the die-hard old skool Talking Heads fans are actually just one tiny step away from their Bon Jovi / Yes / Aerosmith collections they gave away to their younger siblings?
