Thee Oh Sees are a band that likes to experiment but never abandons their signature sound. This album shows that by putting all the upbeat kraut-garage-psych songs on the A-side and the weird tracks on the B-side. Generally, the B-side is better but that could just be put down to our being down with the Oh Sees brand of experimentation. Penetrating Eye is one of ourfavourite songs by this band, with an aggressive Blue Cheer heavy psych approach. Transparent World is an amazing vocoder-ised robot space dirge that sounds like nothing else this band has ever done. Camera, King's Nose and The Lens have these euphoric Zombies-style choruses and a sunny upbeat weirdness reminiscent of Dog Poison or the band White Fence.
