WILD BILLY CHILDISH AND THE SPARTAN DREGGS - Dreggradation LP

As part of The Spartan Dreggs, Childish takes the back seat, playing bass and adding intermittent back-up vocals, while Neil Palmer, a younger, leaner-sounding vocalist cut from the same cloth, takes the mic. More’s the pity, as Childish’s voice is often the foundation that raises the sound of whatever band he’s playing in above and beyond the 1965 Who mimicry that could easily be levied at them.

Still, there’s plenty here across these three brief records (each lasts under half an hour) to amuse and entertain the Childish hardcore, with tales of bakers, seafarers and BBC 6 Music DJ Marc Riley all present and correct.
